Help Patients
In-Need.
Not Hospitals' Bottom Lines.
The 340B Drug Pricing Program was created to help patients who need it most by making their medications more affordable.
But over time, some hospitals have started using the program in a way that helps their bottom line, not the patients who need the help.
Instead of helping those without insurance, some hospitals are sending these patients to collections while keeping the savings for themselves. Together, we can change this.

Yes.
Through the 340B program, hospitals get big discounts on medications meant for patients who are struggling. But many hospitals don’t pass those savings on to patients. Instead, they keep the money for themselves while you keep paying full price.
More than half (57 percent) of all hospitals in the United States take part in the 340B program.

Very few (28 percent) of pharmacies that are part of the 340B program are located in poor or underserved areas where they are needed most.
Quick Facts
Why the Patient's Right to Know Campaign Matters
When hospitals receive discounts meant for the most vulnerable patients but keep the savings for themselves, patients suffer. It doesn’t have to be this way.
The 340B program should be used to help people in need by making medications affordable and ensuring they get the care they deserve.
The Patient’s Right to Know Campaign is all about making sure hospitals are using their savings to help patients, not take advantage of them when they need help the most.

We believe that every dollar saved through the 340B program should go back into helping the patients and communities they are supposed to be serving.
Quickly fill out the form below to let your legislators know that you support changing the priorities of 340B programs from hospitals bottom lines to patients in-need.
When hospitals in Michigan receive discounts intended to support low-income patients but fail to reinvest these savings into community care, we all pay the price. Healthcare should be equitable, and the 340B program must fulfill its mission of providing affordable medications and care to underserved communities here in Michigan.
The Patient’s Right to Know Campaign is about standing up for transparency and accountability. We believe every dollar saved should go back into Michigan communities, helping those who need it most.

Patient's Right to Know Campaign:
Reform the 340B Program for Patients IN-need
The Patient’s Right to Know Campaign wants hospitals to put patients before profits.
Right now, hospitals give only 2.3% of their money to charity care, even though they benefit from the 340B program, which is supposed to help people who can’t afford their medications.
Some hospitals are using the savings from 340B to make extra money for themselves, instead of helping people who need the care most.
As healthcare costs keep rising, this puts affordable care out of reach for many Americans. We need to fix this.
